* Nominal Torque (aka Rated Torque) is published by all manufacturers but is actually a theoretical calculation that ignores the 15% - 20% efficiency loss present in all rigs.

* Actual Torque is the usable torque at the tool determined through testing of every Watson rig. This value is not typically shared by manufacturers.

**Varies depending on excavator mount and bars

EDT-18 DEFINING ADVANTAGES

  • CONTROLLED FREEFALL, 2-SPEED WINCH

The controlled freefall on the EDT18 winch achieves the rapid controllable performance of demanded by production driven drillers. Coupled with a 2-SPEED raise function and the EX has unbeatable cycle times.

  • SINGLE LAYER GROOVED WINCH

The Kelly winch is fitted with a large diameter, grooved winch drum big enough to keep all of wire rope on one layer. With this combination, speed and consistent linepull are achieved along with excellent rope management and long rope life.

  • TOP APPLIED KELLY CROWD SYSTEM

Full length top applied crowd force drills straighter holes and simplifies Kelly locking.

  • OPTIMIZED AND ISOLATED HYDRAULIC INTERFACE

Integration to the excavator has been carefully managed to limit the overlap of the systems by providing dedicated valve for the drill. By cleanly separating the two systems, diagnostics, servicing and maintenance of the drill can be distinct from the excavator.

  • QUad-drive HYDRAULIC ROTARY

Quad-Drive Rotary enables shiftless operation from 180,000 ft-lbs to 90 rpm spinoff. Without clutches, gear changes or sensors, simplicity, and thus reliability is achieved.

  • LARGER DIAMETER 24" ROTARY = BIGGER BARS

Watson's larger rotary designs allow for bigger the Kelly bars and rotary bearings, which lower the wear and tear on the business end of a drill rig. Larger diameter also means more kelly bars for greater depth without sacrificing kelly tube thickness and drive lug area.

  • INTERCHANGEABLE SQUARE FRICTION OR ROUND LOCKING KELLY BARS

Heavy duty Kelly bars made from high strength alloy steel are standard on Watson rigs. The EDT18 has interchangeable inserts to allow swap out for either square friction or round locking to suit your drilling needs for any given job. Up to 5 elements available.

  • TOOL REACH

Boom mounted design brings versatility unmatched by mobile mounted rigs.

  • quick disconnect

Unique trunnion design simplifies the process of removing the drill for transport.  No crane is required as the excavator can load the drill unit.

  • CUSTOMIZED

From Custom paint schemes to Kelly bar stubs, Mast heights and Kelly bar lengths to meet your drill depth demands. Further more these can be mounted to any make excavator from 35-50 metric ton.

  • auto tensioning crowd cable

Keeps the cables tight and takes up any slack as the cables stretch. Makes changing or adjusting the cables easier.

  • full rotary torque on demand

With the press of a button, full torque can be applied without adjusting the torque/speed settings. The benefit is the ability to quickly power through tough conditions.

  • TESTed

Quality is important to us, that is why we test drill with every rig to full depth.

Typical applications
