* Nominal Torque (aka Rated Torque) is published by all manufacturers but is actually a theoretical calculation that ignores the 15% - 20% efficiency loss present in all rigs.

* Actual Torque is the usable torque at the tool determined through testing of every Watson rig. This value is not typically shared by manufacturers.

**Varies depending on excavator mount and bars

2500 key ADVANTAGES

  • TOP APPLIED KELLY CROWD SYSTEM

Watson's top crowd system applies the downward force to the top of the kelly rather than through a wet kelly or bar locking system.  The wear and tear on the rotary from crowd forces is eliminated while also allowing the operator to drill straighter holes.

  • SQUARE friction OR ROUND INTERLOCKING BARS

Heavy duty Kelly bars made from high strength alloy steel are standard on Watson rigs. The 2500 has the option for either square friction or round locking to suit your drilling needs.

  • CONTROLLED FREEFALL 2-speed KELLY WINCH

Controlled freefall is a critical part of productive drilling. The 2500's controlled freefall rate of speed is adjustable to meet the needs of the operator and demands of the auger and bar arrangement. Combined with 2-speed raise, unparalleled cycle times are achieved.

  • SINGLE LAYER GROOVED WINCH DRUM

Fitted with  grooved winch drum big enough to keep all of wire rope on one layer, speed and consistent pull are achieved along with excellent rope management.

  • crawler mount or 8X4 or 8x6 truck CHASSIS

Mounted on crawlers, the 2500 is industry proven as one of the most money-making mid-size drills on the market.  When mounted to a truck, this productivity is easily transported between spread out jobs.  Ideal for fast paced powerline and other utility work.

  • MECHANICAL or hydraulic ROTARY DRIVE SYSTEM

Rotary Drive is available as a mechanical or a hydraulic rotary. Mechanical rotaries, thanks to the torque converter, are known for their speed and responsiveness in many different conditions while hydraulic rotaries are good for hard rock coring and allow the use of more kelly bar elements due to the larger diameter.  Both rotaries output 90,000 ft-lbs and the mechanical can reach spinoff speeds of 147 rpm.

  • EXPANDABLE CARBODY 9'11" TO 11'11"

Track width flexibility means easier to transport and the extra stability of a wide track stance on 24" triple grousers.

  • CUSTOMIZE TO YOUR APPLICATION

From paint schemes, to water tanks, to Kelly bar stubs, WATSON manufactures customized rigs, welcoming the opportunity to customize your drill to suit your specific needs.

  • SINGLE LOAD CRAWLER Haul

Set up time is minimal without having to assemble or disassemble to transport. Kelly bars stay installed.

  • LATTICE MAST

Stronger, lighter, made to ordered in short, tall or open back mast versions for air drilling applications.

Typical applications

The 2500 provides the versatility needed for a wide range of applications from Utility Distribution to heavy commercial applications.  The popular truck mounted version eliminates mobilization headaches making the 2500 a productive profitable rig for large and small jobs.
